youth group

Tuesday, May. 22, 2007 | 4:42 PM

yes, it is an actual youth group entry.

i walked in on jordan and dave and tim and melissa and joel all talking. they all said hi, and jordan said something in another language. i sat down and watched people come in, and jordan came over to me and sat down next to me. "how are you?" he asked.

"ok."

"are you out of school?"

i shook my head.

"when are you done?"

"in like four weeks."

"what classes are you taking?"

"computer."

"what kind of computer classes."

"xml."

"what's that, more web stuff?"

i nodded.

"that's what you're going for, a degree in computers?"

i nodded.

"are you planning on transferring to portland state or something?"

i shook my head.

"you just want the two year degree."

i nodded.

then he started talking to dave about some other guy in the church who's a computer programmer or something. i sat and listened, and watched as rachel came in. that was exciting. she hadn't been there in a couple months. she didn't really talk to me or anything though, besides asking me how i'd been, to which i said, "ok."

i sat and watched and listened, until they started their game. then i sat on the steps, and watched them walk around on paper squares. it was sorta boring to watch, and i was glad when they moved onto the next thing. i wasn't glad that they got into a circle though. stupid circle!!

they sang, and then jordan talked for a while about fellowship. after that, most everyone went to the kitchen. jordan came over to me, and brought up the website again. he said that don mentions it every few weeks or so, but he hasn't emailed me. so he gave me his email address. that's sorta exciting. maybe i'll actually get to start on it finally.

a little bit later, tim came over to me.

"how are you?" he asked.

"ok."

"has anything exciting happened this week?"

at first i shrugged. i knew my window of opportunity to say anything would probably be small, so then i went ahead and said, "i've been driving finally."

so then we talked about that a little bit. he also asked me about where i was reading in the bible, and if i'd called a counselor that we'd talked about me maybe going to. we talked until someone came to the door, which was locked, and tim let him in. then he disappeared for a bit.

next melissa came over to me. "how have you been"? she asked.

"ok."

"how have you been, more specifically than ok?"

i shrugged. i'm not really sure how to answer that. i mean i haven't been all that good, or all that bad. i've just been ok.

"what have you been up to?"

i told her, "i've been driving," and we talked about that for a few moments. then she started talking to tim, who had come back and sat down next to us.

a little later, tim asked me, "what else have you been up to sarah?"

i couldn't think of anything else interesting to mention, except the bunnies. so i said, "i have baby bunnies."

"you have baby bunnies?"

i nodded.

"can i have one?"

i nodded.

"really?"

i nodded again.

"you don't want me to have one. are you selling them? or giving them away?"

"well if someone wanted one, i'd give it to them."

he continued asking about the bunnies, and i guess he meant to ask something like, "did you give it a bunny ultrasound," but instead he accidently asked, "did you give it a bunny mammogram?" it was really funny, and embarrassing for poor tim. i wouldn't mention it, but it's... just so funny. i laughed a bunch. melissa said that should be the quote of the day.

no, i typically don't do that with my bunnies...

tim started talking about animals that his family used to have, and that ended the conversation with me. he talked about how he'd forget to feed his pets, and that's why i don't want to give him a bunny. he also talked about the hamster that fell down a vent, and the dog that ran away, and the chickens and ducks that didn't survive long.

as some of the people left, it ended with me and tim and melissa and joel and ben and nick, all sitting around talking. except i wasn't talking of course. i was listening. it was sorta nice... when all the "extra" people leave, and it's just the "regulars," and it's all peaceful and stuff. i thought it was anyway. they talked until about 9:45.

as i was about to call my dad, melissa asked me if i wanted a ride. i shrugged. i didn't need one, but i wasn't opposed to getting one. i began calling my dad, but then melissa said, "hang up now." what am i to do if someone tells me to hang up my phone? i hung it up, and they gave me a ride home in their nice new car.

when we got to my house, before i got out of the car, melissa said, "we'll have to get together again sometime soon. would you like that?"

i nodded. i probably should have actually said "yeah" or something, but nodding is what came naturally. i really really would like that though. hopefully it will happen.
