i looked at my computer screen and typed this

something is about to break. i don't know if it's in my head or the world.
the thieves kept beating down my door...until they stole it.
now they are the night, stealing the day. they are pink and white or blue...when i am paying attention.
things like to distract me.

dreams chase me while i hide under the covers.
was i running, or did i hallucinate it?
i don't know -- i lost my mind about a mile back.

i drew some black lines on a paper, and showed it to the world. i shook behind the paper that i held.
when i looked out again, everyone had disappeared.
of those remaining, concerned faces shook behind the looks that they held.
when they aren't there is when their eyes stare into me.

was i here just a minute ago?
i heard myself breathing on the other end of the line.
when did things get blurry?
i can't figure out if it's my eyes, or if it's what i'm looking at.

the hours just drained away like rain into a gutter.
the years were more elusive. kind of like love and money.
