the austrian youth group

Tuesday, Jun. 12, 2007 | 5:01 PM

so on sunday we had youth group at jordan's house. it was austrian themed, i guess because they did missionary stuff in austria, and jordan was there this past week.

i was one of the first to get there, with melissa and joel and rachel being the only ones ahead of me. melissa and rachel were helping (jordan's) rachel in the kitchen, and joel was drawing with the kids on the porch. i sat on a couch. i just kinda sat there and watched what was going on, as more people showed up. there was tim, dave, nick, ian, some friend of ian's, billy, andrew, a friend of andrew's, and the other tim.

there were fifteen people and five kids packed into the living room as they began eating. jordan told us to greet everyone in the room with a handshake before eating. i sat there as a multitude of people walked by and shook my hand. i then sat there as they all ate some dead chicken.

after they ate, they sang... in german. (something weird happens at the end of that recording, and i have no idea why. so be warned. it's kinda loud.) well, jordan and rachel sang in german. the others looked on at lyrics on paper, and tried to. it was... different.

then jordan talked for a while... also in german. rachel translated. it was kinda interesting.

after that, we watched a slideshow that tim made of the pictures and videos from the beach trip. then everyone just kinda hung out, as people left. i was of the last to leave, with melissa and joel, who gave me a ride home.

during the ride, melissa asked me, "what are you doing on friday?"

"um, not much, except for taking care of my friend's horse."

then she asked joel, "have we decided on a time?"

"no, we haven't."

"how about we decide on one now."

"ok, how about... 6:30."

i was thinking, a time for what?

then she asked me, "do you want to come to my birthday party on friday at 6:30?"

"sure," i said.

so, that'll be interesting.
