weekend #70 with david

Monday, Nov. 09, 2009 | 2:14 AM

yes, i went and counted the number of weekends i've spent with him since we first met. we didn't spend all of those weekends together, but we have spent five or so days together several times before, so i think it evens out.

so, this past weekend, was weekend #70 together. we didn't do too much this weekend, because david had lots of homework to do.

he came over friday night, and we went out to the mcmenamins by mall 205. we went there during happy hour because the food is cheaper, but this particular restaurant had nothing i would eat! so, for (basically) the first time, i put a rather tasteless slab of cow meat with melted cheese in a bun inside my mouth. i had to add lots of ketchup. it wasn't really bad, but not good, either.

on saturday, we went to ikea to get a cheap 99 cent pillow for david to keep at my house, since he can no longer bring his pillow because it doesn't fit in his motorcycle box with everything else. (when he comes here, he first has to travel from corvallis to salem on his motorcycle.)

when we arrived, we were happy to find that the ikea restaurant was selling their meal of meatballs with tasty sauce for only one dollar! so we ate before we bought the pillow and left.

that night, david went to a concert at the wonder ballroom while i went with my dad to the store and did other things.

on sunday, i basically slept in while david did homework, before leaving to go back to corvallis.

while i'm at it, let me tell you about last weekend, or weekend #69. it's more interesting.

he arrived on saturday and we immediately left for vancouver. i had been emailing back and forth with a breeder of satin rabbits (named for their shiny coat) because i had always wanted a large breed rabbit. i decided that since i have a large cage, i might as well go for it.

the satin breed isn't the largest breed, but at the adult weight of about 9 pounds, my new bunny will be at least twice as large as my other rabbits. usually i wish my animals would stay in the baby state forever, but i can't wait for this guy to grow!

when we left the breeder, with new bunny in tow, we headed to rei. david needed to get some things for his bicycle, while i stood around and waited for a long time while the people there brought things out from the back that weren't stocked on the shelves.

after that, i'm pretty sure we went and ate some pizza from somewhere.

i had been wanting to go on a hike on sunday, but we slept in too late. instead, we went to visit paloma and walked around powell butte for a while.

i hadn't been to the barn in a while, since my dad wanted to stop taking care of paloma. we stopped at fred meyer first, to buy a carrot and some other things. then we drove down that old bumpy barn road. i was eager to see my furry friend, but found that she wasn't in her stall. she was out in the pasture instead.

before walking out to the pasture, i went up into the loft to see if i might spot kiara, my kitty that i took to live there. i called her name, and there she was! she let me pet her a little, but then walked away out of my reach. she's gotten more feral since i stopped showing up to pet her and give her cans of wet cat food. still, it was good to see her and see that she's still doing ok up there.

out at the pasture, i couldn't find paloma's halter on the fence, so i just went in with her and the other horses to say hi to her. some other nosy horses wanted the carrot i was feeding her. i pushed them away so i could hug and pet my horsey friend. i miss her.

it was getting late, so we couldn't stay long if we wanted to go to powell butte. the sun was already setting when we arrived at the entrance that i used to go in when i was younger. we walked up a steep hill and then found that a large chunk of the park had been fenced off so they could work on some water reservoir thing. we walked around it in a large loop until it was almost dark. then we had to face something very scary: walking down the hill in an almost completely dark foresty area without falling or getting attacked by hobos.

my vision is bad, and i was basically blind in the darkness. i was about to start crying because i thought we were going to get lost, not being able to see the path that we needed to take, but then we found it. we had to walk by two people carrying a bicycle on the way down, and then at the bottom, we had to walk by a hobo named carl before we reached the van. it was scary!

after that, we went to pizza schmizza before david went home. it's not his favorite pizza place, but i like it.

so, there you have it. weekends #69 and #70 of sarah and david.
