the unsuccessful chair search

Saturday, May. 12, 2007 | 10:16 PM

today my dad and i went out looking for a new computer chair for me. first we went to a thrift store, and i drove there. as we looked around, we came upon two boys climbing high up on mattresses. it wasn't the safest thing to be doing. my dad stopped and asked them, "looking for a mattress?"

"yeah, we're looking for one for our mom."

"do you know that you shouldn't be up there?"

"yeah," they answered as they began climbing down.

"you know you shouldn't be up there, but you climbed up there anyway?"

"yeah."

"is that a good choice?"

"no," one of them said, "it was a terrible choice."

the last one jumped down and they ran off as my dad continued, "life is all about choices. if you make bad choices, you regret it. if you make good choices, you don't regret it."

at this point they were gone. "they sure ran off fast, didn't they?" he said.

they didn't have what i wanted at this thrift store, so we went to another one. my dad drove there because he didn't want me to drive those particular streets or whatever. he's too afraid. i could do it. i can do anything.

they didn't have what i wanted there, either, so then we went to walmart. i drove. walmart's cheapest chair was 50 dollars, and they didn't have a display one for me to sit in. so then my dad drove to target. their chair was also 50 dollars. i didn't wanna spend that much.

they did have the most amazing chair at target. it was super low to the ground, only a couple inches off, and it rolled. i sat down in it and started rolling around down the aisle. it was really fun!! my dad ruined the fun though. he kept telling me to stop it... like i was really hurting anything. i was so tempted to buy it, but i didn't. it wouldn't be as fun here. their floor is all smooth with wide open spaces. ours is all lumpy and there's not much room.

next we went to fred meyer, and my dad drove there as well. their cheapest chair was 90 dollars. oh my gosh, who would pay 90 dollars for a chair? that's ridiculous! at this point we'd been out for about three hours, so we went home. it was very disappointing.

i got to drive home, in the dark and the rain. it was fun.

...

there's still four baby bunnies. they're still fat, they've got even more fur, and i took a few more pictures of one...

...

my aunt is visiting for a week, and her and my mom took off today to some forest park thing in washington... almost at the canadian border. i have no idea why she has to go to a forest park thing up in washingon. oregon has tons of forest park things of it's own. they're gonna be gone two nights, and i didn't wanna leave the babies for that long, so i stayed home. not to mention, traveling with my aunt...sorta sucks.

so my mom is gonna be gone for a while, that'll be interesting... though not too terribly different than usual. she usually does work all day anyway.

...

i also wanted to show you this. it's an xml schema document. it's my homework that i turned in on thursday. it wasn't easy... i typed all that by hand. i was very proud of myself for being able to figure it out and stuff. so even though you probably have no idea what you're looking at, i had to show it, because i am proud of it...

so, yeah. that's all for today.
