mini summer

Thursday, Jun. 25, 2009 | 10:01 PM

david finished his spring term on the 10th i think, and started his summer term on the 22nd. him and i spent the entire time of friday the 12th to sunday the 21st together. it was our little mini summer.

on saturday we drove out to forest grove, where i picked up a pre-bred white mini rex doe. she's a pretty little thing, and i named her feather, which david came up with. i'm hoping that the sale of her babies and my other two doe's babies will help fund a trip that david and i are planning to take to san fransico. plus i love baby bunnies, and feather's babies should come out as some nice quality mini rex.

also over the weekend we went to washington park and the rose garden where we looked at roses in the near darkness of evening, kissed a lot and found someone's camera case and memory card. we stuck the card in my camera to see the pictures, but they weren't interesting enough to warrant stealing the card.

on monday we both went to salem, where i spent a lot of time going through a math book and relearning stuff that i had learned in grade school and middle school. i was planning on taking the math placement test on friday and hoping to place into a certain class. while i did this, he worked on writing answers to six questions for his application to oregon state. between monday night and thursday afternoon, we spent the whole time at his house, aside from going out to get food.

we headed back to portland on thursday, so that he could go to a concert. then, early friday, he took me to my school to take my placement test. i apparently learned so much that i did well enough to place above the class i was hoping to get into.

after the test, we headed out to the gorge to spend the last weekend of our mini summer camping. we stayed at a little campground at eagle creek park. we got there in the evening, and set up our tent between bursts of heavy rain.

on saturday, we went out to the bonneville dam where we looked around their visitor's center and watched counted fish swim by a big window. we had gotten there too late to take a tour of the dam. after that, we went hiking about two miles along a popular trail. we stopped at a small rocky beach by the creek, where we relaxed for a while in the hammock. it was very nice, though a little cold.

as it got dark, we headed back and then ate our dinner in the shelter of the van. we did some drinking as we ate, talked and played cards. this helped warm me up for our next adventure: participating in naked hiking day, which happens every year on the first day of summer. we did this sometime after midnight, just after it became sunday.

we had a perfect little trail going off of our campsite and up to some viewpoint. we not only hiked in our natural state, but we also ran! (to help keep me warm.) it was very freeing!

after we reached the end of the trail, we headed back down to the van. david went to use the bathroom and brush his teeth, while i promptly fell asleep in the back seat. when he got back, he awoke me by knocking on the glass. i was very confused.

we then headed to the tent, where i again fell asleep rather quickly.

on sunday morning we got up and packed up our stuff. we then headed back to the bonneville dam, and took the tour that we had missed the day before. i learned all about electricity, and saw an adorable little black lab guide dog puppy.

after that we rushed back to portland to get to our usual pizza place in time for happy hour so we could get a discount on our pizza. we ate our delicious pizza, and then david drove me home and then went back home himself.

it was a very nice mini summer.

i will post pictures soon.
